The children were captivated by the visit from a real, live author, John Parker. John captived the children by reading stories and enthused them to continue
to record life events in a little journal. He encouraged them to reread and edit their stories until they are happy with their work...even if this takes a while to complete. The children were able to make connections with their own writing and that of a published author.
