Christmas is coming...

We are all getting in the festive mood in Room 7. We are enjoying the count down to Christmas holidays. Only 7 sleeps to go :-)

Santa Letters

We just couldn't believe it when our letters from Santa arrived just after Mrs. Howe read us the book about Santa letters. We were so excited!

Face Painting

What a fun afternoon we have had in Room 7 today having our faces painted and making posters for the gala. Thank you to our talented mums who have been practising their face painting designs on the children today. We are getting all ready for the gala on the 23rd November. Don't forget to come and get your face painted outside Room 7 for $2.

Week Three Terrific Kids

We have two more super stars this week...OE who always produces beautiful, neat handwriting and SKB for showing determination to become an awesome reader.  Well done. Mrs M is so proud of both of you.

Well done to RP and CB for being terrific kids this week. RP always gives 100% to his work and CB is determined to learn all her Jolly Phonics letter sounds. Great!

Term 4

Welcome back to school and our very busy 4th term. This term our first Inquriy Topic is Celebrations and we have already been looking at the Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated around the world. Throughout the next four weeks we will be exploring the different ways we celebrate important events in our lives.

Special Term Certificate

Congratulations to SKB for a fantastic effort with her reading this term. Also for being such a super kid in Room 7.

Transport Day

What a great way to conclude our Inquiry unit on transport. We rotated around lots of activities and had lots of fun. They included Thomas train track, small wheels, big wheels, paper planes, the Cars movie and some Lightning McQueen art. Now we are ready for a holiday. Have a lovely rest everyone and see you next term.

The Big Shake out in Room 7

We have been practising our earthquake drill ready for the BIG SHAKEOUT that will be held all over New Zealand tomorrow at 9.26am. We know that when Mrs Macro calls out DROP that we all need to get ourselves safely under the nearest table, cover our heads and hold onto the table leg....
We need to know how to be safe in an emergency.

Motat Trip

Maths Week

Maths week has got off to a wonderful, mathematical start with a visit from the Maths Roadshow. The children move around a variety of different maths activies and need to use their problem solving skills to calculate different scenarios. It is a fun way to use all our mathematical expertise.

Another Fantastic Father's Day Breakfast at BDS

 On Friday we had our celebration of fathers...and as you can see lots of Dads turned up for their bacon sammy, hot coffee and a chance to have a look around the classroom. We love our Dads!

Week Seven Super Stars

Well done to JB for using independent decoding strategies when reading independently and KH who has been showing the value of cooperation. Two more fantastic kids in Room 7.

Week 6 Star Students

Well done to LG for an awesome effort with writing...he is beginning to add adjectives to make his writing more interesting. I think he could become an author when he grows up! Also to VO for always being a considerate class member and thinking about others.

Artists at Work

We have been busy creating a special piece of art for our calendars this year. Art is a favourite time in Room 7 where we listen to music and let the creative juices flow. A great deal of concentration was needed today and you could have heard a pin drop! We hope you love the finished product...watch this space :-)

Week 5 Super Stars

Well done to JM for making a big improvement in Number Knowledge and to HS who is always extremely considerate to others in the classroom. Yay!

AUTHOR VISIT

 
The children were captivated by the visit from a real, live author, John Parker. John captived the children by reading stories and enthused them  to continue to record life events in a little journal. He encouraged them to reread and edit their stories until they are happy with their work...even if this takes a while to complete. The children were able to make connections with their own writing and that of a published author.
